Review of Alphaville (1965) by Andrew D — 20 Nov 2007
Wow, what an absolutely bizarre film from Godard. Half sci-fi and half film noir, with parts political theory in an "Atlas Shrugged" sense, the film is amazing in expression and creates a sense of disillusion and paranoia.
This was an experiment that worked. I wouldn't be surprised if Philip K. Dick wasn't the slightest bit influenced by Godard's surrealism.
