Review of Alphaville (1965) by Jeremy K — 19 Jul 2008
I thought it was great for what it is: basically a b-movie noir, sci-fi. It's typical Nouvelle Vague in editing style. The camera work is fantastic I think somewhat better technically, than say Band á Part, It never detracts from the story but adds a lot to the characters, particularly the CU of Anna that slowly tracks so when she looks up she's looking into the camera.
Brilliant.
