Review of Alphaville (1965) by Luke P — 28 Dec 2008
As I watched this, I kept thinking back to Ingmar Bergman's damning judgment of Godard. A film like "Alphaville" really stirs in the stereotype of pretentiousness on the part of the filmmaker.
The photography was unimpressive, the story was very dull, and the telling felt produced by a film student. Now look. I love Godard, but this is a textbook for his worst tendencies. Avoid unless you're looking to catch 'em all.
