Review of Alphaville (1965) by Paul P — 02 Feb 2011
I admire the idea of the film more than the movie itself. I loved how Godard didn't go overboard with futuristic sets or costumes. Plus how he crosses genres is very impressive. Eddie Constantine is fantastic as the character who is a detective straight out of a hard boiled noir flick.
He is thrown into a Orwellian future where he is totally out of place. I didn't find the story all that interesting, in fact a few long stretches were kinda dull. I'll give this one another shot some day.
