Alpha Dog is incredibly blunt, daring and as honest as they come, making it the type of film that most movie-goers will have trouble swallowing, but therein lies the movie's true greatness. More hardcore film goers however, with an appreciation for directors who aren't afraid to show things as they are, are in for the ride of their lives.

Alpha dog has a huge cast of characters that all lend their skills and unique involvement to this incredible story in a believable manner. It would be a crime not to single out the performances of Timberlake, Foster and especially Sharon Stone, who delivers her role with so much conviction and heart that its hard not to get mesmerised by her character.

Alpha Dog is however a flawed gem - a sometimes sloppy plot structure and a few less realistic scenes are a bit of a bother. This does not however subtract from the movie's incredible sense of confidence in its own awesomeness.

The movie has a lot to say about parenting, the power of the need for acceptance and a thousand other detectable themes. One of my all-time favourite movie experiences and one I will be watching repeats of each time it comes up while channel surfing.
