Review of Alpha Dog (2006) by Ben C — 28 Jul 2012
Alpha Dog is so powerful and an intence film that gave me a reason why not many people liked it. I thought it was nearly perfect for what it was.
The story deals with these drug dealers kidnapping a 15 year old kid, just to get his brother to owe some money to their leader, but things didn't turn out the way he wanted to. One thing for certain is that this was based on a true story.
This isn't one of those movies that I normally see, but what stood out to me was how the story was well presented. There were some plotholes laying around, which messed it up a little, but I had a great time with it, nonetheless. The dialogue was too vulgar, but it's an R-rated film. Apparently, this was the strongest one I've ever experienced seeing.
With so many F-bombs and explicity this movie had to offer, you definitely do not want to let your kids see it. Otherwise, it will be GTA all over again. Kids might find it fun to watch, but they need to stay away from this movie at all cost. Putting that aside, here you have a brilliant movie that is well-made and well-acted. This was the first movie that made me surprised about Justin Timberlake's performance. Didn't know he can act at first, and this movie proves how good he is as an actor.
