Review of Alpha (2018) by James C — 27 Aug 2018
Not really sure why this is getting so much praise, it's fine but not really interesting or memorable. The narrative itself is paint by the numbers with little deviation from a standard coming of age adventure.
Stand out elements would be costume design and some but not all of the cinematography, this might have just been my theaters screen but I got the sense there was a heavy filter over a lot of the film and it was really distracting, the animal CGI is mostly ok but can show some seams here and there particularly during movement.
Acting is decent. I don't know, this will probably appeal to small children, families, people that forget to think when dogs are present. It has cute wolf scenes if you just fall to pieces over that shit.
Don't see this film with an infant crying directly behind you for the duration because their asshole parents have no consideration for other people.
