Review of Alpha (2018) by Larry S — 04 Dec 2018
The movie aint bad but is ruined by a few technical/historical faux pas.
1. The plot is set around 20,000 years ago, yet there are many camera shots that are clearly obtained by using drones. Drones where not invented until much, much later.
2. Black people, women, and the disabled are heavily un-represented. Unless you count the son's injured leg but even then there are hardly any disabled facilities.
3. In later scene a close-up of an actors tunic showed a basic Blanket Stitch pattern to hold it together. This method was not popularized until the medieval era. Simply unforgivable. If you don't believe me read Lars Guntersonn's classic "How they used to stitch things like tunics together ages ago, like 20,000 years ago". The illustrated version makes it even clearer.
There are many others, but I don't want to come across as pedantic.
