Sadly bland telling of a sharp and sad novel. The torture/imprisonment are watered down completely, but some stereo"typical" Germans/Nazis are added,( for those who would otherwise not get it???) The film IS boring, where the book is not at all.
Brendan Gleeson and Emma Thompson do instill interest, Daniel Bruehl is also worth watching.
