Aloha.

"I did not like it and I laughed at the silliness of it all, but really isn't it already a comedy?".

Anybody that live on these islands know that when a Hollywood production decides to tackle on some Hawaiian folklore, it'll be bound to some major backlash. Although, behind the scenes it may seem to be genuinely curious and whole hearted but on display, it comes off as insulting and offensive. Mustn't they use the word Aloha in every scene? (It was a major backlash in the first place to have this film be named 'Aloha', an endearing Hawaiian word with many definitions and connotations, be used as the title for a romantic Hollywood love story with the military in the forefront and Kaneohe mountains as the backdrop.) Mustn't they have Emma Stone's character repeat 'I'm a Hawaiian' every 5 minutes? Mustn't they stop with the offensive labeling, starting with recipes named after Hawaiian words (aka Kamehameha lemonade)? There are so many wrong things about this film that detracts from the actual story, that is if there was an actual coherent story that had you gripped with attention from the very first to the last scene.

Overall, beautiful cast, beautiful scenery, some interesting side stories, all in placed with the actual dumbfounding storyline, an offensive way to 'shoutout' the local Hawaiians, and just an awfully terrible comedy. As a comedy, it wasn't funny. As a terrible movie, it was but that's not something you can laugh about so freely considering they spent at least 37 million dollars to make a mess of a movie.

Approved rating of 1/5 stars.
