Review of Almost Famous (2000) by Russell Q — 31 Dec 2014
Almost Famous is great, fantastic, entertaining, and wonderful! Director Cameron Crowe (Jerry Maguire) has done it again! The film is magnificent and awesome!
The story takes place in the early 1970s, where a young man named William Miller (a breakthrough performance by Patrick Fugit), wants to become a journalist and gets his first assignment by Rolling Stone critic Lester Bangs (a fantastic Phillip Seymour Hoffman), where William has to find a band to criticize and to write about for Rolling Stone magazine. On his way he meets Penny Lane, (a beautiful Kate Hudson in her magnificent Oscar-nominated role), a teenage girl who was part of a old band, and William also meets the band Stillwater, where their main star is Russell (a great Billy Crudup), the guitarist of the band and one of the main stars of Stillwater. Penny Lane and Stillwater then take William in a huge tour around the country and William gets complaints and freaks out when his mother, (a wonderful Frances McDormand, Fargo), who was scared about his journalism journey, freaks out and gets worried about William in one of the greatest movies of 2000!
Almost Famous will blow you away! Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand both give wonderful and magnificent supporting performances! Cameron Crowe wrote, produced, and directed a movie with great music, a wonderful screenplay, and an awesome cast! Almost Famous is a music movie masterpiece!
