Almost Famous is still great. I watched the directors cut which has over 30 minutes of additional footage. The extra scenes are good and add to the story. I'm also planning on watching the commentary track with Cameron Crowe and his mother (who was played by Frances McDormand in the movie). Should be interesting!

I liked this movie even better the second time around. It is now in the favorite 5 star status! Completely amazing!

Almost Famous is a semi-autobiographical story about the director, Cameron Crowe, and his experiences growing up. Crowe had a rather unusual childhood. When he was 15, he started writing articles for Rolling Stone magazine while touring with bands such as the Allman Brothers and Led Zeppelin. Almost Famous is ultimately a story about the love of music, and what it's like to be a true fan. There are some terrific performances in the movie. Frances McDormand is hilarious as the mother, and both Patrick Fugit and Kate Hudson did great as young "fans". The music in the movie is incredible! Any movie that has 5 Led Zeppelin songs and over 50 great songs total can't go wrong. The DVD has some of Crowe's Rolling Stone articles, which are surprisingly good. I can't wait to see what's going to be on the special edition DVD when it comes out!
