Review of All the Real Girls (2003) by Barry W — 01 Jul 2009
Authentic is the best way to describe the film. It's a non-glamorized and non-cliche look at the highs and lows of young love. The film takes a while to get going, and the beginning feels like it's trying too hard to be "indie" and unconventional, but about 20-25 minutes in it draws you in.
Strong performances from Paul Schneider and Zooey Deschanel, as their development, as individuals and as a couple, anchor the film. Some of the plot twists are predictable, but in the end they work out well.
Give it a chance, definitively worth a watch.
