Review of All the Real Girls (2003) by Aaron L — 28 Nov 2010
A really pleasantly believable love story that thankfully revolves around characterisation rather than a plot, something that many other romantic films try to cram in only to make the whole piece fall down. With this you obviously need two talented actors otherwise without plot or believable characters you just have..well..nothing; fortunately the casting of the impressive Paul Schneider and the eternally lovable Zooey Deschanel was inspired and they easily carry the piece on there own. The excellent performances from the rest of the cast only serve to add to this.
A very cute film, enjoyable but not world changing. A lot of people wont get the minimalistic nature and will find the lack of plot in favour of characterisation quite, if not very, boring. I for one love it and would recommend that you at least give it a chance. Yes, it is slow but that gives you longer to absorb the beauty of each moment. Relish this.
