Review of All the President's Men (1976) by Reece L — 25 May 2015
Quietly brilliant and subtly thrilling, "All the President's Men" is an expertly synthesized and acted dramatization of one of the greatest journalistic triumphs in American history. Among the many noble qualities of the film, its dedication to veracity is its most notable; there are no obvious cinematic tricks or embellishments employed to overstate what's already profoundly interesting material.
It's a gripping condemnation of political/journalistic inbreeding and the reliance on conventional wisdom and a championing of truth that stands among the best works of American cinema in that it speaks to our faults and points out our successes in righting those wrongs, the system of checks and balances working thanks to constituent oversight.
