Review of All the Money in the World (2017) by Anthony B — 02 Jan 2018
A movie that didn't need to be made about a story that didn't need to be told. All The Money In The World is structurally awkward and messy thanks mainly to the Christopher Plummer scenes, which were shot in only 9 days in order to remove Kevin Spacey from the film.
Even still, had the project not plagued by reshoots, I can't help but feel like it would still be a floundering, boring dud offering an A list cast little to do. Full disclosure, I never liked Michelle Williams but this particular performance of hers is especially contrived and annoying.
As for Mark Wahlberg, I think he confused character development with wearing glasses, and Christopher Plummer... I'm not even go to touch that one. It's too easy, that said, the man is a phenomenal actor who did the best he could under the crappiest of circumstances.
Overall, not offensively awful but because everyone in Hollywood hates Kevin Spacey they will by default pretend to love All The Money In The World. In other words, DO NOT BELIEVE THE CRITICS!!!!
