Review of All the Money in the World (2017) by Dave Movie F — 07 Feb 2018

An economic cynic would look at a film like this and see all the ways that capitalism corrupts everything, from the individual to family to society in general. And if that were the goal of the movie, it mostly succeeded. But with many of Ridley Scott's weaker entries, this movie spends too much time is spent on creating a tone than actually carving out a story.

Much has been talked about regarding Christopher Plummer's incredible performance that was just shot in 9 days due to the replacement of the disgraced Kevin Spacey, and while Plummer's performance is certainly noteworthy, the real star of this movie is Michelle Williams. As Gail Getty, Williams fashions a strength of character that does not need any exposition saying "I'm a strong woman," full of emotional range and depth that is required to play a person with so many responsibilities.
