The only reason to watch this movie is for the performances of Michelle Williams and the last-minute replacement of Christopher Plummer. However...there was so much more that this story could have been about.
The plot line is simple. Miserly grandfather won't pay the ransom until his grandson gets an ear cut off. The movie dragged for most of the 2+ hours, but thank goodness, the two performances maintained my interest as they tried to keep the boy alive.
