Review of All the King's Men (2006) by Margarita S — 02 May 2012
Slow moving and a generally uninteresting story build. Drab look and feel. Some very cliche camera shots (i.e. use of shadow to imply grandeur; pop drinking to hard liquor drinking to represent moral descent).
The secondary story pops out of nowhere at about the halfway mark, isn't properly developed or woven into the overall story. The deterioration of Adam Stanton's mental state is also unclear. How? Why? It's a rather important point to the plot.
Although well cast (solid individual performances), little to no chemistry between the actors. Lacking in smooth storytelling transitions.
