Review of All the King's Men (1949) by Michael L — 26 Dec 2008
Most of the movie just hovered above "mediocre".. including the ending. It's not that it was a bad finale, it's just I can't imagine anyone not figuring it out 30 minutes ahead of time.
A slow burn that doesn't really deliver. Sean Penn is good, but overacts a bit sometimes. Jude Law is decent, but manages to underact most of the film. Gandolfini might as well get used to wearing a suit in every role he gets from now on, that's apparently all he can do.
