Review of All That Jazz (1979) by Darryl J — 22 Dec 2008
First off, I thought Roy Scheider gave an excellent performance in this film. It was a pretty dark, musical film and not like any musical I've seen before. "Joe Gideon" had to know that all that smoking, drinking and womanizing wasn't going to end well.
It was a good portrayal of his sort of downwards decline, but yet keeping his flirtatious, show-business demeanor about him all the while. Some very good dance sequences (the erotic dance sequence that they put together was actually pretty great.
) I was impressed with this film, more so than I thought I'd be. I'm glad I had a chance to see it.
