Review of All That Jazz (1979) by Adam P — 21 Nov 2009
I watched this in near tandum with Felinni's 8 1/2 and was just struck with how similar they are. This is Fosse's meta-autobiography and is told with his signature style. Sadly, I didn't feel it was as successful as it should have been.
The musical numbers were reflexively indulgent and the obsession with death was a little one-note tuba. But it is by no means a failure and I especially enjoyed watching his complicated relationships with women.
