Review of All That Jazz (1979) by Joyce J — 03 Apr 2007
Director Bob Fosse's semi-autobiographical film about his own life is brilliant in its technical aspects. The danc echoreography is fantastic, the production/costume designs are beautifully done and Roy Scheider is terrific in the lead role.
Unfortunately what lets the film down is that it's pretty prententious, self-indulgent and there isn't much in terms of substance. Overall it's a good film but it won't bee everyone's cup of tea.
