Review of All That Heaven Allows (1955) by James H — 18 Jan 2011
Wyman and Hudson are teriffic together in Douglas Sirk's colourful, subversive, melodrama. Wyman's Cary Scott is torn between keeping up appearances socially, and falling in love with her gardener Ron Kirby, who is from another social class (gasp!).
Sirk's stunning use of colour, and the cinematography are simply remarkable.
