One of those very few 50's films, that truly captured an aspect & mentality of the time. Douglas Sirk masterfully created this masterpiece.
Both Lead Actors where terrific that added such dimension to their characters. This film although a Melodrama at it's heart, really made you think about being in love and the reality of it, and how often it can be doomed.
Also the 50's suburbia backdrop just added to make the film as believable as it was. It is a complex story and although at it's heart it was a little Hollywood (i.e fairytale ending) it had many elements that are hard hitting and relevant in today's society, which sadly hasn't changed much...
