Review of All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) by Geoff P — 02 Apr 2008
A must-see movie for any admirer of war films, anti-war films, and film-buffs in general. It is from the viewpoint of the German soldier, which was brave for the time (the war had been over for 12 years but it was still living memory), and it is wonderfully acted and has a poignant air that runs throughout.
It is as much a scathing attack on the society that supports war as much as war itself. And the final scene is at once touching, sad and beautiful.
