This movie is amazing...for 1930. The cinematagraphy is breathtaking...for 1930. This movie is one of the greatest war movies I've ever seen, and probably ever will. It's so honest and doesn't take any political shots or shots at anything else, it merely shows what war is, just like the book.
But I must say this, and this never comes out of my mouth: This movie deserves a good remake. Hear me out: The year is 1930, which means Marlon Brando isn't even old enought to be on stage yet, which means.
..the acting is atrocious. I never believed these actors felt the lines or were even acting! I just kept thinking all they were doing was reciting what they crammed into their heads. With good acting, this movie could be absolutley flawless.
The only reason it still gets 5 stars: it was 1930...that's the only reason it gets a break.
