Hands down the best war movie I have ever watched. the library of congress did a fantastic job restoring it, and I hardly felt that it was a 1930 movie except for the occasional gap between frames. the story was complete and satisfying, the approach to cinematography timeless.
I was surprised by the degree of goriness in it - turns out that was before the studios decided to make movies lame and unrealistic because of a law (per IMDb). highly, highly recommended!
