Review of All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) by Miranda P — 15 Sep 2009
One of the first war movies ever made, and arguably the best. After almost 80 years, loses none of its punch-- in fact, it's actually odd to watch a movie like this, with its strong anti-war message, knowing it was made 10 years before the most destructive war ever fought.
The must surprising thing about this film, to me, is how great the battle sequences still are. Decades ahead of its time.
