This movie was awful. There is no back story for you to feel any compassion or emotion towards the "man on the boat". He pretty much doesn't speak OR show any emotion through 95% of the film.
And to top it all off I don't think he even knew what he was doing as a sailor. Don't know what so many people saw in this film.
