Review of All Is Lost (2013) by Thomas C — 18 Apr 2014
I am not a sailor nor particularly taken by the notion of being at sea for long periods of time, but this film effectively pulls in the viewer and creates great drama from this story of human being and nature.
Redford is great and due to his age we can almost feel every action he takes to survive. I found myself wondering what my next steps would be if I was in similar circumstances, fully immersed in the moment.
I love that it captures the extraordinary power and beauty of nature and life without creating hyper video-like reality so prevalent in contemporary films.
