I love how silent the movie is.
There is almost no dialogue.
Many survival movies tend to have the characters talking despite being alone. They talk to a camera, or to a volleyball or to themselves, and it almost always feels like its justI love how silent the movie is.

Many survival movies tend to have the characters talking despite being alone. They talk to a camera, or to a volleyball or to themselves, and it almost always feels like its just for the audience. It's refreshing to see a movie where the character doesn't do this.
There's no one around, so why talk? All the thinking and planning is done in his head and he only talks whenever he thinks someone might hear him. If not, there's no reason to waste energy. He's gonna need a lot of it.
This movie could not have been as good as it is without a great performance to carry it. Thankfully, Robert Redford more than delivers.
