Review of All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 (1996) by Chandler Kate — 22 Mar 2009
I have to say I was surprised; I kind of enjoyed this! I wasn't all that crazy about the first one given how dark and depressing it was, and while this has it's fair share of doom and gloom, it's much more upbeat.
Charlie (now played by Charlie Sheen) is much more palatable here; he's still a wheeler-dealer, but there is much more humanity to him (adding in a romantic interest can't hurt.) The story is rather trite and simple, but I'm not asking much.
My biggest gripe is with the animation. The backgrounds alternate between mostly detailed oil drawings to sketchy, impressionist bits, and all of the human characters have a cartoony blandness to them.
