Review of All About Steve (2009) by Ana B — 13 Nov 2013
Rom-com with a twist. Sweet and smart crossword constructor Mary Horowitz meets cameraman Steve through a blind date and falls for him. After an unexpected twist of events she loses her job and decides to follow Steve and his special unit of reporters through the country. But Steve isn't so much into her, in fact he starts to consider her a stalker.
Contrarily to what the title says this movie is not all about Steve but all about Mary or perhaps all about Sandra Bullock, she is the star and everything in it revolves about her character. She is funny, there is no doubt about it; in fact the whole film is based in her humorous skills and little else. There isn't enough story to keep us going for so long so we have several charming sketches where Mary/Sandra Bullock just talk non stop to cover up for the thin plot; and at points it works, in other moments you just feel like "Shut up, Mary!".
