Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Mitch P — 25 May 2005

It has been a long time.

Wow this movie is amazing. I don't know how to explain it. but it stired something in me.

It's like reading a long poem (2 hours plus long) and you feel something inside of you but you have no clue how to explain it.

This is what I am going to write on my xanga.

All about lily chou-chou.

Remember in the movie Il Postino, when Pablo Neruda read a little piece of his poem to the postman and he said, "it makes me feel something inside. Like a wave that pushes me up and takes me down and then up again." (i am paraphrasing).

And that's exactly how the movie makes me feel. But rather than words, this poetic movie is composed of images. Nomraly when I am looking for a movie experience, I am looking for something like "yi yi", something that takes you on a journey to a galaxy far far away and makes you feel good in the movie. But this one makes you feel more unsettle, more like wow that was beautiful but what the heck happened.
