Review of All About Eve (1950) by Craig C — 04 Jun 2013
A backstage triumph for Hollywood, with one of the most quotable scripts in all film. In the age of Disney-manufactured stars, even today's Britney wanna-bes will treasure this film. Bette Davis basically plays herself, while the sociopathic duo of Anne Baxter and George Sanders are in career-defining roles.
Kids will thrill to see a youthful Celeste Holm decades before her turn in the Harry Potter films. And Marilyn Monroe's small role is a harbinger for her iconic status. One of the greatest films of the Golden Age, or any age.
Beyond essential.
