Review of All About Eve (1950) by Megan O — 23 Jun 2010
It's hard for me to judge All About Eve fairly, as there have been so many films to come out since its release that have so blatantly ripped it off. So to say that this is a story that I've seen told hundreds of times (in one incarnation or another) would probably be an understatement.
It's not the fault of the film -- on the contrary! But despite the familiar territory, I found All About Eve to be an entertaining, complex, and humorous film, featuring a stellar performance by Bette Davis.
I was absolutely marveled by her; that woman is a powerhouse! Although I disagree with the Academy's decision to award All About Eve the Best Picture honor instead of the far-superior Sunset Blvd.
, it's still a pretty awesome movie featuring an unforgettable performance.
