OK, Bette Davis is spot on as an egotistical, diva, stage actress. But Anne Baxter as Eve I think is just OK. And as far as the story goes, it is almost too predictable. The innocent, Wisconsin-born, starstruck Eve ends up being the big star, while the famous, yet aging, Margo Channing's stardom fades.

You can kind of guess the story from the beginning. Another weir thing I found about this movie is when Karen Richards laughs hysterically when she realizes her secret scheme to allow Eve to get her first break in acting (or was it "just a joke" played on Margo?) conveniently gets swept under the carpet, wouldn't Margo have pryed harder to find out why she was laughing, and maybe connect the dots seeing as she just got finished having a long private conversation with Eve just minutes before? It was interesting to find out from the special features on the DVD the behind-the-scenes things that went on in the making of this film - Bette Davis having an affair with Gary Merrill, the tension between Bette Davis and Celeste Holm, just to name a few.
