Review of Alive (1993) by Craig M — 24 Jul 2007
The crew behind Alive! demonstrates a remarkable lack of respect. An actual tragedy, involving very cruel deaths, is seen through a sensationalist eye; like doing a hit from a nightmare. When a plane crashes in the Andes, starts not only a "race" for surviving, but also an uneven journey with bad performances and worse dialogues.
The people talks to each other as if they were in an action movie, with a very false sense of spirituality, embodied in short phrases, like "This is God". You will feel terrible when knowing about cannibalism, but not because the movie is dramatic, but for the inherent impression it causes.
Filming is good. That's the only positive think I can remember now.
