Review of Alive (1993) by John C — 01 Feb 2009
"One of the survivals of the 20th century".
A true film, gives us an insight of their battle to survive against natures horrific elements.
On October 13, 1972 a Rugby team containing 45 people from Uruguay was flying over the Andes but, was hit by turbulence and crashed.
24 people survive from the plane's impact into the snowy peaks of the Andes.
But later more people battled against the elements of the harsh freezing winds and no medical treatment available the injured died soon after. An avalanche hit more casualties and no food to eat they're forced into cannibalism to survive.
Now only 16 still living and they knew the search party for them has stopped, after finding a transistor that broadcasted the heartbreaking news. Now it comes clear they would die if they all stayed put.
Three people set off to scale over the huge mountain that they thought will be next to the Chilean plains.
They were wrong after over coming the mountain they seen nothing but more endless mountains, with only two of them there now after the other guy retreated to the plane wreckage before they got to the top.
They had no other choice but to carry on as certain death will face them if they went back.
But with extra food leaved by the other member they both carried on even if there bodies tried to stop them, but they persisted and went on.
Against all odds, they made it to the lower plains, to a small village and got help for the remaining 14 survivors at the crash site.
72 days of hope for survival against all odds to be still alive, it happened "The Miracle of the Andes".
