Review of Alive (1993) by The Critic ( — 03 Dec 2013
Based on actual events occurring in 1972 over a two-month period, Frank Marshall's film captures the complexities of human nature, particularly morality and faith. Music is overused at times and this emotional manipulation makes you feel a little distant from the proceedings, but these moments are few and far between.
Fortunately, the fact that the young, talented cast of this survival film never convince as hailing from Uruguay doesn't detract from becoming involved in their unenviable circumstances nor do does it negatively impact the power of their story.
