Review of Aliens (1986) by Tristan M — 23 Feb 2015
One of my favourite movies of the time. I prefer it over the original Alien, as it has more action, better characters, better effects, and a longer running time. It's very well done, directed by my second favourite director, and has a good cast who preform great.
When I found out that Sigourney Weaver almost didn't play her part for Ellen Ripley, I realized how this movie would not have been at all the same without her, and that alone could have brought down my rating.
The effects are really good, the aliens are far better looking than the original, less mechanical. The slime and water on the aliens still adds to their realism, as does their smooth movements. And the queen alien is amazing looking, so real and was not all CGI but actually real.
The story is simple, find and kill the aliens, and starts off right where the first movie left off. The plot is more action packed and not made to be as scary, and is always tense, with thrills and a great script.
The face-huggers look just as impressive and real the original Alien face-huggers, and still play an important creepy role. The action is good, with old style gun sounds fitting with the futuristic weapons.
Cinematography is great, and I simply can't say anything bad about this movie, and not enough good things. Overall this movie is fantastic, the best movie of the franchise and the alien subject.
