After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's (Weaver) shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. After being in stasis for so long Ripley has to come to terms that everyone she knew on earth is now dead, as well as dealing with PTSD after the events of "Alien".
When contact is lost with the colony on LV-426, Ripley is asked to go with a squad of US marines to investigate what has happened. This action-packed film is the perfect sequel to "Alien", which you must watch before watching this film.
Also, go for the Extended Special Edition of Aliens if you can - it makes much more sense knowing more of Ripley's backstory - especially in regards to her relationship with Newt (Henn).
