Review of Alien³ (1992) by David B — 05 Feb 2016
A movie masterpiece. And on the big screen, the chestburster scene just kills. The horror and tenseful atmosphere created by the mystery of the Xenemorph is well done, the visual effects for its time are really good, but ultimately I think Alien is a sci-fi reinactment of Jaws.
It basically follows the 1950's B movie formula but with a bit more style and higher production values. However, I think it's one of the most visually creative sci-fi movies ever made and although it's not one of Ridley Scott's most meaningful and deepest work, it's an inspiration to modern horror that still creeps me out to this day.
It is considered the best alien monster film ever...that was until the brilliant sequel came only. Still, this is a film that changed cinema when it comes to science fiction horror.
