Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Micah D — 07 Jul 2012
In 1992, director David Fincher destroyed the franchise for Fox, and saved it from total commercialism. Desperate to get a good film, Fox pulled money for one last shot at a good 'Alien' film. Meet director Jean Paul-Juenne: A Frenchman who creates campy, visual films, along with Joss Weadon: a scriptwriter who would go on to make 'The Avengers'.
What was the franchise so far? Each director had a different take on the same universe: The 'Horrific' Ridley Scott, the 'Action-packed' James Cameron, and the 'Dramatic' David Fincher.
What is 'Alien Ressurection'? Goofy. This film is simply bad, bad story, bad effects, it's a comedy if anything else. I do not consider this a part of the 'Alien' mythos, it does not belong in this series.
The 1 good thing about this movie is a pretty cool underwater fight sequence, but that's it. Waste of time, don't bother.
