Review of Alien Nation (1988) by David F — 10 Jan 2010
A great concept that pre-dates 'District 9' by almost 20 years (!) The idea of a race of genetically-engineered worker aliens stranded on Earth, to be eventually assimilated into human culture as second-class citizens, is the only original thing the film has to offer - once the premise is established, the film lapses into a sub-standard buddy cops vs.
drug-dealers plot that the 80's were already choked with. Mandy Patinkin's 'Sam Francisco' is a hoot, though.
