Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Tom B — 14 Jul 2017
I was hoping for a super exceptional amend to the awful PROMETHEUS, but unfortunately this only met my expectations halfway. In a nutshell, ALIEN COVENANT triumphs with action, suspense, and horror for its first forty-five minutes; but then drastically plummets into a common sci-fi sinkhole before tackling its trailer centerpiece (which is like 1/30 of a Marvel movie) and then just tweaks the traditional ALIEN ending.
The lead actress was a very good casting selection along with the unusual effective screen presence of Danny McBride, but the film's lack of originality and long dull centerpiece irredeemably debilitates the movie as a whole.
