Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Alistair L — 27 Jul 2017
Michael Fassbender towers over this outing of the film franchise, playing not only David - the synthetic who survived (albeit in bits) from Prometheus, but also Walter, a new model ten years further on the colony ship: Covenant.
Though his affected performance reaches new levels of creepiness ... he even gets to issue to himself, the immortal words "let me do the fingering", as he teaches his other self the flute. Sorry I had to giggle.
That aside after a slow start setting the scene, the monster splats arrive, though maybe don't crank up the same suspense levels as they could .... however they still make you jump ... and you keep wanting to scream at the screen to the new crew members .
.. don't do it, don't do it, please don't look at the egg ... haven't you seen the original movies!!! The spaceship and new world also look the biz, but for my money I enjoyed Prometheus more .
.. but we do get proper Alien monsters, which is what everyone wanted to see ... we also know there's at least one more film to come full circle on the space saga ...
