Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Alexander R — 12 Dec 2017
I must admit on first watch I was furious, I wanted to see Shaw meet the engineers. But all my hopes were dashed. After having some time to reflect on the movie and watch supplementary footage in the form of virals and behind the scenes, I came to appreciate the beauty and complexity of it all.
Sharing similar cues to Alien, Aliens, Alien: Resurrection. It's combination of Prometheus type philosophy and symbolism with Alien style horror and action. This movie struggles to find its feet, only with repeated viewings and careful intertextual analysis was I truly in awe of this mysterious masterpiece.
There is more symbolism and puzzles crammed into the movie than any other I have ever seen. So much so I have dedicated a blog to unlocking these mysteries so that others may enjoy it on the same level as me.
Given the chance I believe this will be the most meaningful piece of cinema this century. https://yutani.blog/.
