Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Liam H — 02 Sep 2017
I don't know at what point the Alien franchise decided that it's storyline had to be an intellectual masterpiece. Although the earlier versions of the story had intelligence woven into the storyline the bulk of the drama came from pure tension and active action sequences.
This movie is tame, slow and laborious. Some of the monsters are not scary at all. I don't like the turn that the story has now taken that all the monsters were created by an android. I think it's a bad idea and a poor movie making decision.
In terms of a stand alone movie the last 45 minutes are ok. Apart from that this movie and the franchise itself is a train wreck not worth picking apart and saving.
